Plain words
Your details, and what happens to them.
The short version: use Papermunch without an account and nothing about you is kept at all.
If you never sign in
Nothing about you is collected. There is no sign-up wall, no advertising and no tracking of what you do.
The papers you’ve munched, your revision levels, the exams you’ve picked from the timetables, what you write on a paper and everything in Notes are saved in your own browser, on your own device. They are not sent to Papermunch.
Otto’s bell is worked out on your device from those same things. Nothing is pushed to you, and you are never asked to allow notifications.
If you make an account
An account is optional. If you make one, Papermunch keeps three things: your email address, the @name you choose, and your progress (which papers you’ve munched and how you’ve done on revision questions).
Your email address is used to sign you in, and for nothing else. No newsletters, and it is never shown to anyone.
If you sign in with Google, Papermunch asks Google only for your email address. It never sees your Google password.
Signing in puts one cookie in your browser so you stay signed in. It is not used for anything else.
What stays on your device, even with an account
Your notes, your handwriting, anything you write on a paper, and the exams you’ve picked. They stay in your browser. Use Back up in Notes to keep a copy of your notes.
What is never done with your details
They are not sold, rented or given to advertisers. There are no adverts here.
Who helps run the site
The site and its small database are hosted by Cloudflare. Sign-in emails are sent through Resend, which is given your email address so it can deliver the code. Sign in with Google is provided by Google.
Deleting your account
Open Me, choose “Delete my account”, and confirm. Your email address, @name and saved progress are removed straight away. What’s saved on your device stays on your device until you clear it.
How old you need to be
You need to be 13 or older to make an account, or to have a parent or guardian’s permission. You don’t need an account, or to be any age, to use the papers, revision and Notes.
@names
Names that are rude, hateful, or pretend to be Papermunch or an exam board can’t be chosen, and may be changed or removed if one slips through.
